What Swedish lesbians think is hot: Top 10 sexiest Swedish women

When I told you in this week’s WAE column that you should check back with us because we had something really good for you, I wasn’t exaggerating. Ok maybe I was a little, but I still think it’s worth getting excited over the Swedish hottest women list that was just published by QX. The list is the result of the annual vote for the 10 sexiest women in Sweden according to QX readers.

After already being very impressed with all the beauty and deliciousness that Norway has to offer, I’m adding Sweden to my list of Scandinavian countries I definitely should visit soon. Unlike British lesbians, Swedish dykes actually have great taste in women (no offense, British ladies). Let me provide you with some detailed coverage of the list (being a eurOut editor is such a tough job).

10. Mia Skäringer.

We find actress, comedian, writer and radio personality Mia Skärigner at the bottom of the list. Skäringer first came to Sweden’s attention during the mid 90’s when she was a truck driver and would call into a radio show daily to give a report of how things were going on the road. This let to her own radio show and a subsequent successful radio career. Besides radio, she also works as a stand up comedian, is a bit of a singer and has written lots of stuff, including blogs, columns, scripts and books. As if that isn’t keeping her busy enough, she is also about to star in her first film role.

8. Emilia Rydberg.

Most of you are probably familiar with singer Emilia Rydberg. She had a big international hit with the song Big big world in 1998. Since then she made several more albums, including one in Swedish in 2007. The latest news is that she’s a runner up for becoming Sweden’s contestant in the Eurovision Song Contest. Even though Rydberg isn’t really my type, there’s no getting around the fact that she is a very beautiful woman. 

7. Victoria Silvstedt.

So far I was with you Swedish lesbians, but you have lost me at number 7. Victoria Silvstedt is a model and also an actress and singer. She even has her own brand of lingerie. According to the writer of the QX article, she is “the essence of sexy”. Seriously? Just because she is a former Maxim woman of the year, Playmate and Miss Sweden (interesting combination by the way), doesn’t mean she’s doing anything for me. Please let me know if you disagree, I’d love to know what I fail to see.

6. Jessica Landström.

I would like to introduce you to number 6 on the list Jessica Landström, aka my future wife. She doesn’t know it yet, but after seeing her photos I plan to immigrate to Sweden and marry her (Actually Sandra had a similar idea and we’re still fighting over who gets to be her fake wife). Apart form being really hot, Landström is also known for being a football player for Linköping FC in the Swedish national league, as well as for playing on the national football team in the Olympics. In addition, she was voted best breakthrough player at the Swedish football awards last year. She also happens to be the only out queer woman on the list (She came out publicly back in November).

5. Carina Berg.

TV presenter Carina Berg can be found at number 5. Although I’m still recovering from the hotness that was number 6, I have to say she’s very cute. Berg has hosted a number of Swedish television programmes including Swedish renditions of Idols and Stars on ice. She also stars in her own comedy show called Lilla vi tar stor plats, in which she apparently looks at the funny side of differences between men and women.

4. Dea Norberg.

Next on the list is another singer, who just like Emilia is also related to the Eurovision Song Contest. Dea Norberg sang backing vocals for Charlotte Perelli, Sweden’s 2008 contestant, as well as many others in previous years. Other interesting fact about this hottie include that last year she went on tour with Cirque du Soleil (yes, the circus) and she also happens to play in a Prince tribute band.

3. Tuva Novotny.

The third hottest Swedish woman according to QX readers is actress and singer Tuva Novotny. Well, it’s hard to disagree with that choice. If for some reason things do not work out with me and number 6, I might pay Tuva Novotny a visit. Novotny has starred in many Swedish TV soaps and series, as well as a number of movies both Swedish and international. You can listen to one of her songs Newfound lover here.

2. Eva Röse.

Actress Eva Röse has started in many TV shows, films and theatre productions. The latter include Berthold Brecht’s Puntila and Tennessee Williams’ This property is condemned. Obviously, she is more known for her TV and film work, including her role as police detective Maria Wern on the TV4 series Strange Birds. Yes, it seems to be a pretty universal thing that we all like a woman in uniform.

1. Lisbeth Salander.

I love that the number one hottest woman in Sweden isn’t actually a real person. Lisbeth Salander is the bisexual computer hacker from Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy. It’s no coincidence that she won the poll, as the movie adaptation of the first Millennium book has just premiered in Sweden and it has been getting a lot of attention. Pictures of the actress who plays Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) apparently can be seen everywhere. I wasn’t familiar with the books or the movie, but now I definitely want to find out more.
