Carla, Countess of Lahnstein, from the soap opera „Verbotene Liebe“ (engl. „Forbidden Love“) is one of the few lesbians on German television and this for a long time. And she is what we wish there was more: She is pretty, rich, clever, great hair and all the time a lesbian. Before I start with the storyline I have to tell you something about Carla, because she has a very big and chaotic family. And because I don´t want to describe the positions of her family members in every sentence, I describe it now (and because it´s full of weird stories).

Carla and Sophia

So, this is Carla with her young daughter Sophia. Nice, isn´t she? Countess Carla is the sole heiress of the family empire after the death of her father. It took her a while to get it because one of her brothers forged the last will of her father, but that was another story.

Carla's Love Interests

Carla’s daughter was a planned child with her former wife Susanne (left, a cab driver) and the biological father of the child was Lars (man on the left). Lars was also the former fiancé of Carla’s first Soap-Love Hanna (right woman, a bar waitress). Weird, isn´t it? Hanna dies on a … okay, no one really knows, but she was ill ...or something… from an accident.
These were the two important women in the life of the countess. There is only one man left. Her former husband Bernd. Husband?!?!? Yes, because she was a society lady and her family didn’t know that she was gay for a long time, Carla had a fictitious marriage with Bernd (the right one). But the marriage was really fictitious, Carla didn’t have any interests in men and Bernd accepted that, because Carla was very rich and the business company of Carla’s family (which she is know the head of) is very big. There were other women too but ... never mind.

Carla's Family

So, because that was not stressful enough, let me introduce you to Carla’s family. It involves even more persons, but that would be a too long story. So here are the important relatives who you will see later.

First of all there is her stepmother Elisabeth. Before Elisabeth married Johannes von Lahnstein, Carlas father, she was married with Susanne’s father, the former wife of Carla. Again, weird, isn´t it? But Elisabeth was a nice person and very important for the business company „Lahnstein Holding“. Then there is Leonard, a half-brother of Carla and a doctor. Leon’s first Soap-Love was the wife of his father Cecile. Yeah ... And after her death, he fell in love with Sarah, which is also a half-sister of Carla. Leonard and Sarah thought they have the same father for a long time, but they don’t (for the record, the mother is also different). Sarah and Carla have the same father and Carla and Leonard have the same mother. Complicated? No!
Oh and both are, like Elisabeth, nice and helpful people.

That was the bright side of the family. But where light is, there have to be shadows. And in the Lahnstein family darkness is called Ansgar. Ansgar is one of Carla’s many brothers and sisters who is also a legitimate child of the former count and countess Lahnstein, like Carla herself. So they have the same mother and father. Ansgar, or Dark Ansgar, was the one who forged the will. And the one who gets hisself or the whole family in trouble with his shady dealings. Ansgar was married with Tanja. And when Ansgar is dark, Tanja is pitch black. But they have a son together: Johannes. That is the reason for their marriage. Öike with Carla and Bernd it was only a fictitious marriage. Ansgar has a relationship with Natalie, the best friend of Carla and the former wife of himself. But Natalie can´t get children, so, she is not countess Lahnstein anymore. Sad for her. Natalie is a nice girl, but she … I mean Dark Ansgar??? Natalie worked at the Lahnstein Holding as a translator. Ansgar works there as … I don´t know, it changed so often, but he was there .. and he is important ... most of the time.

So, that’s it for Carla’s family and her love history. Carla was a few months in Munich and is now back. She is divorced, has a nice little child but no love interest. That means, in a soap opera, Carla has no private live. So, that is really sad. That is so sad, that everyone is talking to her about it.

for this comprehensible (!) yet very funny summary of the awesomeness that is "Verbotene Liebe" and the Lahnstein family. I'm a long time on and off watcher of the show, a huge fan of DarkAnsgar (great name!), very happy that Katja died (because of bad acting, I think), would love to vote Lydia off the show, too, and am seriously thinking that Carla (oh yes, great hair!) and Nathalie have more chemistry than she and Susanne ever had, no matter the romantic bubble bath. But Stella is very cute indeed. Do we already know if she's gay or not? I haven't watched that religiously over the last weeks.
