This week, a former Rainbird released a new CD, a lesbian couple from Sweden got a (home) makeover, and the Irish got the first gay radio programme.

Germany

  • German singer and songwriter Katharina Franck has released a new album called “On The Verge Of An Autobiography” (available on Amazon) and will go on tour in Germany from January on. We will provide you with a more elaborate portrait of the ex-Rainbirds singer soon, but for now, you can check the tour dates and hear excerpts of the album on her official website.

On The Verge Of An Autobiography

  • For all of you Lena Headey fans out there, who also happen to have access to German TV, we have some good news: From January 12th, 2009, German TV channel Pro 7 will air the TV series “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”.

Ireland

Irish state broadcaster RTE has announced Ireland’s first gay radio programme. As PinkNews.co.uk reports, the programme, which is called “The Cosmopolitan” after the popular cocktail, will be transmitted on RTE Pulse, a digital station, and will feature gay community news and dance music.

Sweden

  • This week’s episode of Swedish home makeover show Design: Simon & Tomas featured a lesbian couple, Eva and Karoline, and their two children. They had asked for help because they had promised their son Melker his dream room in their new house. As our correspondent Susi reports (thanks Susi!), the fact that it was a family with two moms was treated very matter-of-factly, it wasn't even particularly mentioned. It was just a family with two parents and two cute kids and then the focus was on the designing of the room. They interviewed the moms and Melker about what he liked and how he wanted his room and then, at the end, the audience got to see the finished room (that was inspired by medieval knights and castles) and their opinions about it. The episode is available online.
  • This Christmas, SVT - the Swedish state owned network – will air a two-part miniseries about Selma Lagerlöf, the famous Swedish writer who was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize back in 1909. The series is based on her extensive correspondence with the women who are being described as the two great loves of her life, Sophie Elkan and Valborg Olander. You read more about the show here.

UK

  • Martina Navratilova’s time in the jungle is over, and unfortunately, she didn’t win, but at least came in second after ex-EastEnders actor Joe Swash. There are some videos, including an interview with Martina, available on the official website, and you can read more about her time in the jungle in the show’s MSN blog and on the Digital Spy website.

  • Pride London won the Gold Award for Best Celebration of Cultural Diversity at the Visit London Awards 2008. Read more about here.

It wasn't really used in the last years, but I definitely want to see The Sarah Connor Chronicles, even if I have always a hard time not to think of German singer Sarah Connor :p

Blueprint, the first (and biggest?) success of the Rainbirds was played so many times, that I couldn't listen to it anymore. I only got into their music with the 2nd album, mostly because of the writing. Katharina Franck once said something like that she wants the music to fit the words, and if one line was longer than the other because she felt, so what.
Looking forward to the longer portray :-)

As for the probably not working tv of our beloved chief-editor, I'm sure there'll be hordes of women out there willing to tape it for you ;-)

Well perhaps this is just the right time to watch the pilot? I just hope they got the voices right.

Actually I don't think using sites like http://www.surfthechannel.com/ is illegal. Even downloading Movies or TV Shows wouldn't be illegal, as long as you don't offer it for others to download from your computer. - And the Bittorrent system forces you to upodad stuff when you want to download it.

But watching Shows online is a one way-ticket and shouln't be in any way illegal. - Please someone correct me if I am wrong.

ah...that's actually quite easy, what you cannot watch without reconfiguring your system (and I don't mean codecs and mediaplayers), is very probably illegal.

And that doesn't leave us with many legal online watching possibilities, that also don't charge extra.

So it's easier to order the DVD's from US, they're still earlier available than the series showing somewhere in Europe.

I order all series I love on DVD. You might have to wait a while, but then you can watch the entire season in one go if you want...and without any annoying commercial breaks.

I am also not above illegal downloading. It's easy to find pretty much any series you want.

If you want it quick but sort of legal, try YouTube. I watched the entire Season 5 of TLW that way.
