In this edition of We Are Everywhere, you can learn a few things - for example, what a "Berghutze" looks like and why women eventually turn into lesbians.

France

If you’re looking for lesbians on French TV, you should start watching reality TV. Marine Méchin, who has also appeared on the French Top Model 2007, has joined the cast of “Star Academy” as a teacher for “personal development”.

  • Actress Maren Kroymann stars in the new movie “Das Fremde in mir” (“The Strangener in Me”) about Rebecca, a young woman with postpartum depression. Kroymann plays Rebecca’s mother.
In August, she talked to German newspaper taz about her role in “Verfolgt”, a movie by out filmmaker Angelina Maccarone in which she plays a parole officer who starts a sadomasochistic affair with her 16-year-old (male) client, saying that she always wanted people to know that she’s a lesbian, but also that she can still play any role that she would be able to play if people didn’t know that she was gay, and that it took some time before producers finally accepted the fact that an out lesbian can play straight characters (“housewives”).
There’s also an interview with Kroymann and her partner, Claudia Müller, in the current issue of German Gourmet magazine “Der Feinschmecker”.

Spain

This isn’t exactly news, but we still wanted to share this with you. One of our correspondents sent us the link to this Spanish web series about lesbians. It’s called “Apples”, and judging from the trailer, there’s a lot going on. Unfortunately, none of us (including our correspondent) speak any Spanish, so we’re looking for someone to tell us a little more about it and maybe write a review. You can contact us either via private message or via email to entertainment@eurout.org.

Sweden

Swedish football player Jessica Landström, who was on the Swedish Olympic Team this year and currently plays for Linköpings FC, has come out as a lesbian in the latest issue of Swedish magazine QX.
Landström says that she has always been out to friends and family, but even though her partner Sara was sometimes mentioned in newspaper articles about her, she never openly talked about the nature of their relationship in the press. She says one of the reasons for her not talking openly about her relationship was that she wanted the focus to remain on her as a football player and not on her private life. She decided to acknowledge Sara as her partner now because of all of the support she got from her. Jessica and Sara are living together and have been engaged for a year and a half.

United Kingdom

British model Jodie Marsh, who searched for a husband on TV only last year, has told gossip magazine Now that she’s currently dating a woman. Still, it doesn’t seem that British lesbians are too happy about their new “sister” and are sceptical about her coming out, as the revelation is widely considered to be a publicity stunt. After all, Marsh says that the reason for her turning into a lesbian was because she was tired of men.
Honestly, I don’t understand  their scepticism. Isn’t that why we all turned gay?

But wait, there’s more: Jodie and her girlfriend Nina, a hairdresser, now apparently want to have a baby. And where do you go if you’re looking for a sperm-donor? Right, radio. Or at least that’s what they did when they made their appeal for a sperm-donor on a national radio show.
Still have any doubts regarding the sincerity of this relationship? Yep, me too.

thanks for the informative read.

I came across this piece of information.. a German documentary on Homosexuality in Football..( link: http://www.wunschliste.de/index.pl?news&newsid=3961) .. I'm dead jealous not to be able to watch it (my undergraduate dissertation was about homophobia in men's football!) but for the Germans on this site: Read this.. and then watch on the 7th of Nov on the German sport channel DSF!!!!

With regard to Jodie Marsh... she's an attention whore (excuse my French).. that's why the ladies over here in the UK are so sceptical!

Otherwise another great blog... looking forward to the next installment :)

P.s. Sadly my Spanish is not good enough for more about Apples.. but I shall still check it out, thanks for the tip!

I think the German film looks really interesting. It seems unfair that when straight people "play gay" everyone congratulates them and pats them on the back for being so "brave" but then noone expects a gay person to play straight...

Well done to Jessica Landström for coming out - I can understand why she left it for a while so people didn't act crazy over it.

And with regards to Jodie Marsh, if it is true then good on her I say. It's easy to criticise her, but if she means it then surely we should be supportive? Although I ceratinly fall into the sceptical camp right now...

I give it all to you, letting go of me, reaching as I fall, I know it's already over.

Thanks, Ana, for supplying everyone with the English version/link of this series. My Spanish is okay but in English it's way easier to follow! ;-)
