With all the Gay Games excitement, one might almost forget it’s the first of the month again and that means it’s magazine time!
Studying LesBians is a monthly column about recent and not so recent research on lesBians and the LGBT community. This month I want to discuss obvious research being done and getting media attention.
When you’re lesbians and want a family, everything is about trust. Because our family will be invisible in the eyes of the law, and our lives are not predefined by traditional roles, our intentions need to be clear and spelled out. We need to explain ourselves to each other. And we need to be careful.
The queer community has accomplished so much when it comes to acceptance. But when it comes to the trans, cross dressers, gender queer and just plain butch, there’s so much more to accomplish. Society may well be ready for two pretty girls in white dresses to walk down the aisle, but the wider society is still remarkably hateful when it comes to people whose gender isn’t obvious to the casual observer.
Montenegro is a potential candidate country for joining the European Union and the last in the Western Balkans to adopt a comprehensive anti-discrimination law.
Well, after a whirlwind week, Sophian are stressed up to the eyeballs at the thought of being outed by the one person who hates them most... and it seems it’s far from over.

This month’s LesBian Life was inspired by a conversation I had with a Christian lesbian couple who were contemplating marriage, but who were afraid to take that step due to the paper trail.
This time eurOut features as Website of the Week the site of one of the most important LGBT organizations in the Netherlands.

Ana tells Héctor it is over between the two of them and gently pushes Teresa towards him once again.Teresa, however, seems to have found another beau.
As the summer slowly reaches its peak and excitement for the Gay Games mounts even higher with just over a week to go, it seems a shame that so many other events sometime fall a little under the radar. So with this in mind, let me introduce to you a festival taking place later in the year, so that it’s not forgotten.

Last Tuesday saw the launch of a wonderful new Irish initiative, the 'LGBT Diversity Programme'. A programme that strives to coordinate several LGBT groups around the country and to "facilitate LGBT organisations and activists to collectively mobilise".
It's Friday, time once again for eurOut's Video of the Week. This time we want to share with you a music video from Norway.
Out of 126 hours of broadcasting, only 7 minutes consisted of a positive and realistic portrayal of lesBians. That's not even 0,1%! British broadcasters still have a long, long way to go.
As I promised you before, eurOut will keep you up-to-date about the most important lesBian events and places at the Gay Games. Today we’ll tell you about the event eurOut is closely associated with: book readings by wonderful German authors.
Ladies, I know, it’s been too long since we last heard a peep out of Weatherfield’s young lesBians. But fear not, they’re back, and accompanied by an incredible amount of drama. Although as soaps go, do we really expect anything less?
Ana and Teresa are still on somewhat bad terms while Ramón Rivas tries to explain that Ana isn’t as bad as everyone thinks her to be.
Will you be at the Gay Games this summer? Well, what a coincidence! Because we will be there too, so why not get together for a drink? What do you say?
My stay in the city started with a highlight: meeting Carole E. Barrowman - John Barrowman’s sister, and English professor at Alverno College - at a book signing for 'Chicks Dig Time Lords: A Celebration of Doctor Who by the Women Who Love It'.
Pride parades are all about getting out there and expressing yourself. In some parts of the world that takes more courage than usual. As a result it was wonderful to see so many take part in EuroPride 2010, which was hosted by Warsaw.
Here's your weekly round-up of everything that happened and will be happening across Europe in the lesBian entertainment world, from TV to sports, and from events to headlines. This week: things are heating up on Spanish TV, news from big sporting events, lots of British events to attend and much more...
'Inseparable: Desire Between Women in Literature' isn't Emma Donoghue's first book about lesbian history; her book 'Passions Between Women: British Lesbian Culture 1668-1801' was published in 1993. In 'Inseparable', Donoghue explores how attraction between females is represented in texts from medieval to modern times.
It's Friday, time for eurOut's Video of the Week. It's been a couple of months, so it's time for another video by Sarah Bettens.
A story from last week turned out to be fake while another story turned out to open a door just a bit wider, plus the usual mix of tip toe-ing.
After a full year of practically breathing Sweden, I’m not sure I know all that much about the current government. But Sweden’s pretty much similar to my country the Netherlands, is the conclusion one could make.
This story about late blooming lesBians is making the rounds on the internet, with the tiny flaw that all publications refer to one article at "The Telegraph" (UK). We go further and add an opinion to this piece of news.
UK gay charity Stonewall recently conducted a poll, in which tennis was voted the most gay-friendly sport. Football came in last, suggesting it's the most homophobic. This backs up recent research on anti-gay abuse in UK football.
What is for one person the best book they've ever read, is for another not worth the paper it was printed on. But nonetheless, a canon of lesbian literature has been established. Which for a huge part I will happily ignore. I do this not because I intend to be sensationalist, but purely for myself I'll decide what is a good book and what isn't.
I think I speak for most women when I say I'm sick and tired of being told that to be accepted as beautiful we have to be stick thin. We all know real women, with their curves and real shape, are gorgeous and so it was with delight that I came across one magazine that is listening to us. Last year "Glamour" magazine did a spread that was so popular that they have decided to rethink how they see beauty.
You got to meet Roxy Claxton, the bisexual lead singer of Salon Society, in our magazine a while back - now get ready to learn even more about the band and their music!
This week we have chosen to feature Lambda Literary, who are calling themselves the leader in LGBT book reviews, author interviews, opinion and news since 1989.
Reality shows are getting more and more popular, while hardly anybody admits to be watching them. And still, have you ever wondered what happens to participants after the show is over?
Summertime is festival time and this applies to film festivals too. And escaping to an airconditioned movie theatre sounds like a fantastic idea these days.
Here is your weekly overview of everything that happened and is about to happen in the world of European lesBian entertainment. In this edition: lesBian soccer players on TV, hot magazine covers, two new Spanish celesbians, and lots more...
Yes, the Dutch are progressive and tolerant. But being gay in the Netherlands is still an anomaly. This is why the decision by the Dutch broadcasting corporation AVRO to extensively cover the Amsterdam Gay Pride is such a big deal. Covering a gay Pride event on one of the oldest TV channels in the Netherlands might just be the push the Dutch need to finally normalize homosexuality—or will it?
What do you do on a Friday afternoon? Yes, that's right, you watch eurOut's Video of the Week. This time we have a song for you from the UK.
The WomenPlace is the official information/meeting/party place for all women during this year's Gay Games in Cologne. Anna interviewed organizer Daniela Zysk and tells you more about it.
Join Chantal as she continues her recap of what's going on between Ana and Teresa on "Amar en Tiempos Revueltos". Are they true friends, or not so much?
If you expect an enchanting lesbian relationship or hot lesbian sex scenes, then you will be greatly disappointed. But if you want to see the work of the magnificent Isabelle Huppert in a story about a woman who breaks free from the life she was hiding behind for years? Then "Villa Amalia" is definitely worth a watch.
Will the French Supreme Court rule in favor of gay adoption rights tomorrow? It might happen faster than some politicians would like. Other countries were equally busy with Ireland adopting a new law, Germany shifting around some political majorities and more.

Little G discusses the reasons why she's reluctant to using public restrooms, and her motives for using the men's room.
If the modern world is youth-obsessed, the modern gay world takes that to the extreme. You could go around thinking that there isn't a gay, lesbian, bi or trans person over the age of 50, such is the lack of visibility. These are the people who created the very idea of the gay community that we now we enjoy, yet they are nowhere to be seen, eclipsed by those youngsters reaping the benefits of their fight.
With Pride season in full swing, Anna tackles one of the major issues in lesBian life; is lesbianism about love or pride?
Lesbian couple Miriam and Nine step in each other's shoes for a couple of weeks, write a book about the experience and promote lesBianism in the process.
Call me cynical, or maybe I'm just getting older, but I’m kind of starting to get a little fed-up with all the new lesBian movies coming out that end in one of the two getting killed, going off with a guy, or going BACK to the guy they were with at the start.
Here is your weekly overview of everything that happened and is about to happen in the world of European lesBian entertainment. We'll keep you up-to-date on all the latest events and movie releases, what's been happening in TV land and who did what to whom.
"Amar en Tiempos Revueltos" (Love in Difficult Times) is a soap opera set in the years of the Spanish civil war and Franco dictatorship. While that is a feat in itself - setting a story a couple decades ago and making it believable – tackling a story of friendship and love between two women in those times is something to be commended for.
It's Friday, time for eurOut's Video of the Week. This time we travel to Spain for a music video that's happy and summer-y.
