Here is your weekly overview of what happened in the world of European lesBian entertainment. We keep you up-to-date on all the latest events, movie releases, TV storylines and who did what to whom.
Movies
Germany
Last Friday, the 25th annual Teddy Awards took place in Berlin, where prizes were awarded to the best LGBT films at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). Unfortunately but not surprisingly, lesBians were practically invisible during the awards show. We’ll feature a post on that later this week. And don’t forget to read Anna’s post about some of the lesbian movies of interest at this year’s Berlinale.
Television

I am not sure if you mean there were few lesbians physically at the ceramony or that lesbian director or films did not win awards. I know the second part is not true because Barbara Hammer won for her short films, and Tomboy, which you feature in Movies of Interest at the Berlinale won the Jury Prize.
You are absolutely right about the awards, but I was referring to the awards show. This seemed to be a gay male-dominated event unfortunately, like so many mixed (LGB) events. But we'll have a post about this topic later this week :)
The Teddy Ceremony was with 0% lesbian visibility and culture. Yes Barbara Hammer won a prize but even she was the third time not there to receive her award. Only gay and transgender artists et cetera. A shame for a gay-lesbian-transgender ceremony !
