January 6
People are talking amongst themselves about the people at the wedding and it seems Maria wasn’t the only one with a crush on the wrong person. Both Sebastian and Tristan look sad. Ludwig publicly acknowledges his estranged son Tristan as his savior from the fire and as the champagne pops, Elizabeth thanks Miriam for accompanying Rebecca to their ceremony. Miriam smiles.

I know what happens next will be unexpected so I’m warning you in advance. This is the beginning of the end. Just read on and forget about it straight away. Keep the memories of what happened before.

The two walk out to get some food when running straight into a woman gossiping about them, saying that Rebecca must have had some pretty bad experiences with men to leave boysville. When she spots Rebecca and Miriam she flashes a horribly fake smile and Miriam, rightly annoyed, asks her if she doesn’t have any problems of her own to worry about. She drags Rebecca off, but the latter looks a bit shell-shocked. She even lost her appetite.

Rebecca and Miriam have found a quiet place to talk. Rebecca still isn’t over the comment made by the weird lady and Miriam remarks it might not have been a good idea for her to come. Rebecca says that’s nonsense. At that point, Rebecca’s dad comes in talking loudly into a telephone to… Carla!

Rebecca confides in her dad about Countess Freising’s comment. Ludwig sits down with Rebecca and tells her the Countess really isn’t known for her sensitivity. Rebecca tells him it’s not funny and Ludwig says earnestly that maybe Rebecca should try and find out why the comment bothered her so much, as she usually doesn’t let what other people are telling her get her down.

Rebecca, confused, asks him what he means with that. Ludwig asks if Rebecca is 100 percent certain about Miriam, and Rebecca gets pissed.

Rebecca: Miriam’s good for me! Is that so hard to get?!

With that she storms out.

As the dancing starts, the Countess sits watching the newlyweds dance. Rebecca and Miriam come in, holding hands as usual, and Rebecca hurries to the other side of the hall, away from the Countess. When Miriam asks if she’s still upset, Rebecca drains her glass of champagne for some liquid courage and pulls Miriam onto the dance floor with her — where a photographer is still busy taking pictures.

Right in front of the photographer, Rebecca halts and kisses Miriam. Miriam and the Countess look equally horrified afterwards.
