It's Friday afternoon, time for eurOut's Video of the Week. This week we have another short film for you.

The film in question is a documentary entitled Anna's Story, by Dutch film maker Nienke Eijsink (who we interviewed in the latest edition of our eurOut magazine). Eijsink has made a number of documentaries, the most well-known being the one about her obsession with one of the doctors of the Australian TV show Flying Doctors.

Anna's Story is a 15-minute look into the life of Anna, a 15-year-old daughter of two lesbian mothers. When one of her mothers dies of cancer, Anna decides to stop being a teenager to not be too much of a burden to her remaining mother. She also developes an obsession with Britney Spears. Do we see a pattern here?

It's an interesting and moving look into the life of a rainbow family.

Anna's Story has been screened at many different film festivals in a host of different countries and was also shown on Dutch television.

What do you think of this documentary? Do you think it's important or interesting or doesn't it hold your interest at all? Let us know in the comments.

Interesting short.

It's a universal thing: it doesn't matter whether you're part of a traditional family or a less conventional one, children often grow up fast in situations like the one in "Anna's story". Whether a child loses a parent to a lethal disease, or because one of them has bipolar (or any other mental disease), at a certain age children are aware of the impact on their lives, and many - like Anna - decide to stop being teenagers.
