Disastrous party planning and devastating pastors: Coronation Street recap - November 4 through 8

Last week Random Rosie decided it was time for Sophian to get their party on for Sophie’s 16th, and let’s just say there’s a few twists and turns along the way for our little lesbians.

 

4th November

It’s Sophie’s 16th and it's present time: Sally and Kevin give her money to get herself something nice, Random Rosie gives her sexy underwear (which was a free sample that didn’t fit Double R), and Sian gives her girlfriend a necklace followed by a thank you kiss, which makes Sally not know quite where to look.

Sally and Kevin are rushing about getting ready for a christening. Kevin’s workmate, Tyrone, is getting his son christened and Sally and Kevin are godparents. Sian looks on as Sophie fixes her dad’s tie, and wishes that her dad could be like that with her.

[Author’s note: An added issue with this storyline is that Kevin may be the father of the baby. Kevin and Molly, Tyrone’s wife, had an affair that only ended when Sally became ill. When Molly became pregnant she didn’t know who was the father, but has always stuck with saying it was Tyrone’s. Kevin is uneasy around the baby, which is why he seems awkward in some scenes with Molly and Baby Jack when Sally is there. Kevin has recently asked for a DNA test, but Molly has said no to it. Only two other people know about the affair so far, and Kevin’s possible parentage of Baby Jack – Kevin’s dad, and Molly’s aunt.]

Sophie and Sian get off the bus from town. Sophie has bought new boots with the money her parents gave her for her birthday. Sian says she’s definitely borrowing them, and the pair start bantering back and forward when Sophie tells her no, and Sian says she’s her significant other so she should be allowed. Especially after giving Sophie the necklace for her birthday.

Sophie gets a text from one of her friends about being able to make the birthday party. Sian doesn’t exactly seem best pleased about it, and worries about how their friends from the church choir will handle their being a couple. Sophie says it’s not their problem and Sian should just “deal, with, it”, then kisses her girlfriend in the middle of the street.

Double R and Jason see them and Jason wishes Sophie a happy birthday. Double R says she too will be borrowing Sophie’s new boots and Sian jokes with her to get in line. Sophian make their way into the house, and Jason asks Double R if she really thinks they’re ready for the party, and Double R sees no reason why not.

At the party after the christening, Kevin sneaks the dummy out of Baby Jack’s mouth when they’re alone, in the hope that the DNA test can be carried out from it.

 

5th November – Part 1

Kevin’s arranged for the results of the test to be sent by courier, but when Tyrone hears him giving the work address out, he tells him that it’s a payment from a client.

Double R is blow-drying her hair, while Sophian are preparing the food for the evening's party. Suddenly the power goes off and Sophie rushes to get her dad to come and fix it.

While Kevin’s away, the courier arrives with the DNA results, but Tyrone assumes it’s the client’s payment and opens the envelope as Molly arrives.

Kevin fixes the fuse, the power comes back on, and the girls are happy again. Kevin rushes round to his work again and finds the opened envelope sitting on a car roof. Tyrone calls Kevin into the office where he can see Molly and Baby Jack there too.

Kevin nervously goes in, but is worried that Tyrone has read the envelope's contents, and when he finds out he hadn’t, Kevin shouts at Tyrone for leaving it lying about and tells Molly she shouldn’t be there anyway as it’s not safe for Baby Jack.
