After last week’s event-filled time for our little lesBians, it’s time for them to face the music... at school.

30th September

Sophian have a meeting at school later that morning with their headteacher. They are sitting in their PJs having breakfast while Sally is doing laundry, when Sian says they’ve missed loads of work and are really behind and will have to tell everyone: including teachers!

Sophie turns to her girlfriend and tells her not to worry, she’ll get her mum to write them a note explaining: "Dear Sir, Sophie and Sian have been absent because they have been struck down by... lesbianitis!" Sally tells her daughter not to be daft and asks the two girls to go and make themselves "decent".

Sophian and Sally are in the girls’ headteacher’s office. He tells them that they’ve missed an awful lot of school and Sally says that they had personal problems. When he asks her to elaborate she says that she just told him it was personal. He then tells them that he has heard the rumours, and perhaps they want to set the record straight (cringe).

Sally asks him if he’s trying to be funny and he says not at all. Sophie tells him that she and Sian are together, if that’s what he’s trying to find out, making him say in such a stupid tone: "So your absence was due to relationship problems?"

Sally pipes up and says that they didn’t move country; they had been through a lot and had impossible things to deal with. When their headteacher says that it may well be the case, but they have missed too much school and have no hope in catching up, Sally flips out.

Sally: Oh and doesn’t that just suit you fine [...] I can see what you really think. [...] Shame on you, you don’t want them here because of the way they are! I mean it’s not like they’ve been on some mad bender drinking and taking drugs. They’re a couple of decent, hard working girls who just happened (she catches her breath, sighs and calms down), who just happened to have fallen in love with each other.

Sophian look at each other in shock at Sally actually saying the words herself.

Sally: And do you know what? They don’t deserve this. We’re not all the same, people are as they are, they shouldn’t have to apologize for it, and if you took your head out your backside for one minute you might realise that!

Wow!! Sally storms out the office leaving a shocked Sophie and puzzled Sian behind.

Now THAT, is what I call an impressive monologue!

Sally’s back at home looking through a photo album with Sophie’s baby pictures, when Sophie walks in. Sophie asks if she’s looking for signs of where it all went wrong, and Sally tells her not to be daft. Sally then tells her that as a parent all you want is to protect your kids, and if they’re any sort of 'different', the world can be dangerous.

I really like the way this storyline is going. I like the fact that Sally is struggling a bit with it - it's a more realistic and complex depiction than you usually see.

Love the re-caps!
