Well ladies, it is that time of the year again.

AfterEllen’s Hot 100 list arrived last Monday and it is a sight to behold… and a little confusing here and there, but that is mostly left to personal taste.

In its fourth edition we Europeans fared quite well - there’s eight more of us in comparison to last year! Not to mention a few honorary mentions in the Women Over 40, Women of Color and Out Women lists that accompanied the ‘big list’ this year.

So before I delve into the ‘big list’, I will let you know who exactly those honorary mentions are and which women made it onto more than one list. One warning though, you might be distracted by all the pictures I’ve chosen and make sure you have a handkerchief ready to wipe off the drool from your mouth.

Let’s start things off with a fiery threesome. Katja Nyberg, Gro Hammerseng and Rachel Weisz.

Gro and Katja nabbed the 14th and 16th position respectively on the Out Women list. And I can’t believe I’m saying this, because she doesn’t look a day over 30, but Rachel took the 19th place on the Women Over 40 list. Continue reading for her Hot 100 listing.

One honorary mention is Dame Helen Mirren, who took the number 12 spot on the Women Over 40 list.

British hottie Jessica Clark made it onto three of the four lists: #15 on the Out Women list, #19 on the Women of Color list and if you want to know on what position she landed on the big list, you just have to continue reading…

Unfortunately this was it for the European representation on the Women over 40, Women of Color and Out Women lists, so let’s quickly skedaddle to the big Hot 100 list. We have a lot to drool over; I mean we have… never mind, let’s just go to the list shall we?

And since I like a build-up, yes I will be going through the list from lowest to highest position.

Archie Panjabi

First timer and West Londoner Archana ‘Archie’ Panjabi made quite the impression on the lady loving crowd when she made her debut as Kalinda Sharma, the (hilariously funny) cynical, no nonsense, in-house private investigator on CBS’s The Good Wife. The speculation that Kalinda is a closeted lesBian only puts more fuel on the fire.

thanks for the recap and for many delightful photos - I think I lost track somewhere between Rachel Weisz and Lena Headey!

Observing the dominant list contents, I still think the AfterEllen hot 100 sould easily be renamed "actressed who (recently) played gay". An interesting insight into what we apparently seems to catch our attention and how we seem to define attraction.

I think  that it is mostly because there are so little gay women out that we cling to the people who recently played gay to ensure that there is at least a little visibility.

But then again I could be totally wrong and this is just what the majority of lesbians like.
