[This is the third and final part of ‘Where Are We on TV?’ Read the previous installment here.]
Welcome to the third and final installment of Where Are We on TV? – An Update. In this installment we will go through countries Q to Z.
Since there is no known country starting with a Q, we’ll go ahead and start with the R’s.
But before I do I have to say that the countries listed in the A through Z listed in these updates are sovereign states; states that have the quality of having supreme, independent authority over a territory. I should have mentioned this before, I know, but in my defense I just started with the A and kept going.
I will look into the no-sovereign territories and regions and anything else in Europe and we’ll make it a special one-off article for you to read.
Also note that, and yes I should have mentioned this earlier, while there are people on television in OTHER countries, they are not on in their OWN country, or rather, country of birth, which is technically what this list is about.
Now, let’s start with that R shall we?
While there is at least one openly gay male presenter, Mircea Solcanu, no known female persons are out, nor are there any characters on television in Romania as far as my research could get me.
Russia, San Marino, Serbia and Slovenia do not have any open characters nor are any celesbians on television right now… unless of course you count the videos of the faux lesbian chicks from t.A.T.u in Russia.
Slovakia
The female prison drama Odsúdené has been unique in showing the first lesbian relationship on Slovakian television and fortunately it’s still being aired. Read more about the show in Natazzz’s article here, and also be sure to check out our recaps of the show.

The cast of Odsúdené
We were also recently tipped about a new lesbian storyline on the Slovakian sitcom Panelák. We’ll keep you informed on how that progresses, but according to contributing writer gm, the kissing and the cuddling looked pretty serious.
Spain
Since we’ll be losing Spain’s favorite lesbian couple on Hospital Central, I am afraid we’ll be running a bit low on lesbians on Spanish TV, so enjoy it while you still can. And don’t forget to read our interview with the lovely Fátima Baeza, who plays Esther.

...nothing in Vatican City? Not even a pretty closeted press relation (but then, of course, that wouldn't count and the poor chap would be in a really difficult position).
Somehow, it's hard to believe that there is nothing original on TV in neither Switzerland nor Sweden. Spring can't come soon enough!
I'm not a regular viewer of Swiss TV, mostly "zapp" past it - what I noticed is that no matter which public channel you choose, the better part of the program comes from other countries.
They do have their own versions of reality & game shows like "Superstar" etc., that's about it. They're currently rerunning "Plus belle la vie" and "RIS" (a french CSI version) in it's 4th season - don't know if that's the one with the lesbian detective in it.
And no, "RIS" wasn't forgotten in the French section, it's currently on hiatus and there's no info when season 5 will air.
Not that there's anything lesbian going on on Austrian tv but I think we at least deserve to be mentioned in the 'no-go' list :-P
You are right, there was no mention of Austria in these articles - we've corrected that now. Please do let us know when anything of interest does appear on Austrian TV! :)
