The episode starts with Teresa helping Esther… it seems Esther is being interviewed today, for a literary magazine that has a special section on books for children.
Esther tells Teresa and Alicia that it’s only a small interview but she’s really nervous…

We can see she has a kind of new look, more butch I would say, especially because of her hair…
Maca is telling Claudia that she’s still waiting for Reyes (the girl who says she’s her sister) to come and do the DNA tests… so Maca starts thinking that maybe it’s true she was just looking for money.

When the time arrives, Esther goes to Teresa:
Esther: Am I pretty?
Teresa: Very!

Esther: Ok then, where are the guys from the magazine???
Teresa: On the phone…
Esther’s face says everything:

Ohhhh…
So at the end she has to do the interview on the phone:

Later Maca and Esther meet:
Maca: How was the interview, honey?
Esther: At the end it was a phone interview… like it was a survey…

Maca: And why?
Esther just doesn’t know so she just shrugs.
Esther: They want to ask you some questions…
Maca: As the director or as the girlfriend?

Esther: Ask for Mar, ok?
Maca: Ok… so I’ll call them right away and tell them you’re the best writer in the world!!!
Maca makes Esther smile again…

Maca sees Reyes coming:

Reyes: I wanted to say hi before I go to do the tests.
Maca: I’ve called you a lot of times and you have never answered!
Reyes: After the way you treated me the other day… there was not much to speak about
Maca: But you are here anyway to have the tests done.
Reyes: I don’t want you to think that I have manipulated them.
Maca: Well then… can you take her? (to Esther)
Esther: Sure.

Esther, getting a haircut was the best thing you ever did. Also, thank the wardrobe department for giving her something black to wear instead of the frequent use of the color "frump".
To me, she doesn't look butch, but perhaps that's a living in Spain/not living in Spain thing.
Thanks for the recap, Calirix - looks like Esther getting written off early for a writing career, doesn't it? I hope not.
Let's see how those tests turn out!
