A few weeks ago we told you about the Dutch Femme 2009 award – the competition for the spokesperson of Dutch lesbians and bisexual women. The finale of the event took place in June at Roze Zaterdag where the title of Femme 2009 went to 23 year old Giullitta Anthony. Since at eurOut we are all about visibility, we wanted to find out a little bit more about the new face of Dutch queer women and decided to ask her a few questions.

Giullitta Anthony

eurOut: What made you participate in the Femme 2009 award?

Giullitta Anthony: I visited the FemFusion website to ask if they would post a link to my research, when by accident I saw a banner for the Femme 2009 award. I signed up without reading the conditions (and also without knowing there were prizes involved) and only later I wondered, “What have I done?” Especially when I received an email explaining the programme during the debate about visibility, where I would be introduced to the public by MEP Plasterk.

thanks for the interview. It's lovely to see such outspoken, smart and multi-faceted representation for what is indeed a multi-faceted community.

Of course, now curiosity begs to know more about Ms. Anthony's presumably feminist/LGBT related research. It should be interesting!
