Buried among all those news, articles and tweets from Pride events was also this one: President of Lithuania vetoes homophobic law. I feel almost sad thinking that this was positive, that bill should never have made it through the parliament.
Once again, I read it first on twitter

Last Saturday marked the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and while we took a look at this others thought about where the community stands right now (in the US).
Some European cities had scheduled their major Pride events, e.g. the parades, for this day. EurOut’s editor in chief shared her impressions from Oslo Pride which looked like a real quiet, more serious event.
While the parade in Paris (via yagg) was graced with the presence of Liza Minelli it also showed it’s darker side with members from one organization trying to prevent the start of the float of another organization (via tetu). While this might sound like a cat fight it’s actually highly politically motivated, though I think the event of the parade is not the right occasion to make a stand, if they want to blame someone, discuss this with the organizers.

The "taz" is a load of BS anyway. Apparently their writers aren't able to write sarcasm/irony very well (and I have noticed this on many occasions), because (again) this is totally daft. Only the comments of one of the readers made that article worth my while.
That CDU flyer really pisses me off. How big of them to be "tolerant".
And thank you for making me laugh: "And another study tells us that Belgian fertility
centers are swamped by French lesbians who want to have a child." It gave me the mental image of lots and lots of French lesbians rushing into Belgium to get inpregnated ;-)

WTF?
I'm glad I didn't see this back in 2000 - and doubly glad I voted for those that gave us at least civil unions. I do hope that the party, eight years after the civil union law, is really, really ashamed of this poster, even though I fear that it expresses the thoughts of some CDU/CSU base voters and member quite correctly still.
Thanks for digging this up, Maxime. Wow. I'll definitely include that in my upcoming CDU/CSU election post. This is incredible. Incredible in a really, really, REALLY bad, no good way.
Just as incredible as the CDU/CSU going into the election campaign with the same discriminating message as before!
As for Lithuania: the Parliament who passed that law that should never have been passed can apparently overturn the president's veto.
I'll now take deep breaths and focus on the cute Antros stick figures... think positive thoughts, positive thoughts...

so I've gone and tried to dissect that 2000 campaign poster, and the current program, too. Whew, I feel better now. Thanks again for the inspiration, Maxime.
