Oh my, community, how much do we love lists? Speaking for me, I think lists are some of my favorite things. If you’re like me and you have that unexplainable love for lists (and hot/inspiring/intelligent women), I have just the thing for you.
Before I begin with the list, let me take you through the selection process, because there were actually a lot of people to choose from. Now, I wouldn’t want to withhold you from getting to know every single out Dutch woman. Still, a choice had to be made because this is an article, not a book, and if I list everyone, I will be stuck writing this for a good month, while you guys skip over all the small letters to look at pictures of gorgeous women and no one comes out any wiser. So yes, there have to be rules!
Writing this, I limited myself to:
And that’s it. My job is so easy.
Okay, now let’s get this show on the road! Ladies, in no apparent order and with gratuitous beauty shots, sit back and enjoy this totally subjective list of the ten Dutch out women you need to know!

Pia Beck

Who: Pia Beck
Profession: Jazz piano musician
Orientation: Lesbian
More information: Official website
Pia Beck is an amazing jazz musician who was born in 1925. After twenty years of life, Pia was asked to join the Miller Sextet as a singer and pianist. She toured Belgium, Germany, Sweden and the Dutch East Indies very successfully and, in 1949, started her own combo. She created the hit composition Pia's Boogie and decided to take over the United States, where she did yearly performances until 1964. In 1965, she moved to Spain with her life partner Marga Samsonowski, whom she'd met a good fifteen years before.
Pia is now 84 and still living in Spain. Her Marga, regrettable, passed away on June 1 2009. Our thoughts and best wishes are with Beck.
Miljuschka Witzenhausen

Photo from TMF.nl
Who: Miljuschka Witzenhausen
Profession: Actor
Orientation: Bisexual
More information: Miljuschka’s Hyves
This 24 year old gymnasium graduate became known to the Dutch people as a VJ for TMF, the Dutch version of MTV. She'd found her way there through the modelling agency she worked for at the time. She worked for TMF for over two years, most notably with Nikkie Plessen and Valerio Zeno on the Re:Action show. After leaving TMF in 2007, she joined the cast of Sound and ONM, one of the major Dutch soap operas.
In an interview with What's your flavour, a magazine published by a major youth initiative, Witzenhausen explains that while she's bisexual, she really only sees herself in a relationship with a man, although she did try with a woman when she was younger. I know, not the best bisexual representation, but can you really blame me for putting her in with a picture like the one above?

But... are you sure that's Sandy in the picture? Because I thought Sandy looked like this! I compared the two pictures but I don't see any resemblance...
...but then who is the woman in our picture, because she looks awfully familiar.
[Edit: I changed the picture in the article. The woman you now see is indeed Sandy]

Who doesn't have a blog these days?
-Is confused-
Now you are making me doubt... I really thought I had the right pic there but now I see yours, it spikes some memories as well... I agree with Natazzz, who's the woman who's pic we put up?!
... to be able to start my day with Mirella van Markus ;)
I'll also be heading over to Pia Beck's site to discover her music. I can't say that I'm really a serious Jazz-fan, but there are certain aspects, certain styles I like and the more I learn about it, the more I discover that it's always been a stage for lesbians :)
Oh and you Dutch are really lucky to have so many out TV presenters :D
...why have I never watched this show before?
Not sure about the getting up early part, but I should check out if it gets repeated anywhere ;-)

Who doesn't have a blog these days?
..a news show that gets repeated
And what about Margriet van der Linden. She is presenting Zomergasten (summer guests) this year. And in serieus tv-land that is a big deal
BTW Zomergasten is a three hour long tv show with one guest, where the guest shows us their favorite tv clips and gets interviewed about it. Every summer there are 6 guests.
I know, I know, but I just wanted to mention her and the show again
Music is magic and it tickles my heart!
Elisa makes my heart beat faster faster faster....

Not that funny, as I did find the show on Uitzending Gemist. What is funny, is that I now remember I used to watch this program and Mirella looks awfully familiar *g What can I say, I have a bad memory...

Who doesn't have a blog these days?
yes, I might give that a try, too, for that sight!
great selection and diversity, faith! As a German, I am darn envious you had to CUT DOWN numbers and LEAVE OUT people. The Netherlands seem to be peopled with confident, successful lesbians who also occupy a fair share of TV screens.
I also enjoyed the high percentage of "unknown" and "bisexual".
Although re: Witzenhausen - a corsage doesn't makeup for everything... she clearly has a concept of bisexuality I don't quite grasp.

Mirella is cute.
we should do this for each country!!
We agree, that's why we're planning overviews of queer ladies from different European countries for the near future.
