I am somewhat of a contradiction.  By nature I am somewhat chaotic, although I am highly organized with some other things.  And I love making lists for organizing myself. Somehow it doesn't always seem to work. Still, I always descend back into chaos. I am convinced there is a system for everything out there (my girlfriend will now roll her eyes). So like the good little geek that I am, I've spend the last month (ok years) doing some research. These are the applications that I now use and I am hoping that it will one day help.

you're quest sounds very similar to mine ;) I never used moleskine, didn't know them at first and decided later that I don't like the feel of them. I've always used and still use french schoolbooks, they've got a special lining which goes quite well along with my writing.

somehow I never got the knack for mindmapping, and I've really tried. I've got the same to say for many tools, got some of those you mentionned already installed, and like you, I've never taken the time to look closer into everynote. On my list of things to do tomorrow ;)

Great post, many tips I can/will use :)

That sounds extremely interesting.

I can't remember how often I explained that the "clean desk" policy doesn't refer to your desk needing to be empty but to "stuff" needing to be in the places where they can be found again.

Don't get me started on 4 and 5, let's just say I really like working on implementing new processes/workflows and designing them and they exist for some reason.

Can't you order it online?

Anyway, we've got a store in Basel that sells all Moleskine products, they even order what's not currently on stock

Send me a link as to what it looks like and I'll let you know if they stock it anywhere in London so you know where to head to when you come over.  I'd be surprised if Selfridges or any of the other large dept stores DON'T have it.

Find me on Twitter www.twitter.com/molecat84

I'm wondering if it's weird that I have no idea what you are talking about?

I mean, I get what you are saying and all those gadgets sound really cool, but it's way over my head. Not a big enough geek...still a dork lol.

It is my experience that the more one notes, the less one does.

I mostly use Mindnote. It came embedded at birth and is composed 100% of biodegradable organic materials. It is battery free and has an organic power source as well.

Lately, however, it forgets what is important but oddly still remembers my childhood telephone number.

For unforgettable appointments, I spend hours on end using my arthritic fingers to type on the small almost impossible to see keys on my Nokia 95 cell phone--- which I forget to check anyway.

But I think the the doctor's assistant and my hairdresser have Evernote because they call me or send a beeping sms that I need to get over there pronto.
My dentist and car repair shop and employer must also have recently purchased this or some comparable software.

However, lately I have been forgetting where I left my cell phone and once the batteries run out there is no finding it by calling myself up over the land line.

Please advise. Search parties are expensive.
