Sarah Barnes on Hollyoaks: The Story So Far

Hollyoaks is a British teen soap that started in 1995 on Channel 4. It’s set in a fictional suburb of Chester and is centred on the lives of students and ex-students at a higher education college. Some of the storylines are pretty ridiculous, but it is the only show left on British TV that is aimed specifically at teenagers and young adults. It consistently features storylines involving sex, drugs and bullying and in 2007 it featured a gay storyline involving two male characters, Craig and John-Paul.

For the past several months on Hollyoaks Sarah Barnes (played by Loui Batley) has been questioning her sexuality. In the past couple of weeks a (female) love interest has emerged for Sarah in the form of feisty journalism student Lydia. Last week the pair shared two kisses and so in the hopes that Channel 4 keeps this storyline afloat, we at eurOut decided to recap it for all you lovely ladies out there.

All the way back in November Sarah, her best friend Zoe (who was also her dad’s girlfriend) and Nancy went on a road trip of sorts. Sarah was meant to be doing a big modelling shoot at the Silverstone race track and Zoe was giving a talk at her old high school. Of course, this being soap-land nothing went to plan; Sarah got dropped as a model and they all had a pretty rubbish time.

The girls decide to have a big night out and at the end of the night Sarah and Zoe ended up alone in their hotel room very drunk. Foot rubbing leads to hugs, which inevitably leads to kisses. Sarah kisses Zoe, who said she rather liked it, and the pair end up having sex.
